Unleashed by Xavier Neal Book 1 of the Syn Syndicate Series

It took me a little longer to finish Unleashed, book 1 of the Syn Syndicate Series. I think it took me a little longer because the story was not something I was used to. I haven't read a book with the female character as the dominant character. It was quite a departure from everything I've read before. I've read strong female characters but not quite like this. Not to the level that the author took it to.

It made for an uncomfortable beginning for me. I must say, having started with questioning myself about my feelings on the male being subservient, I wasn't sure how to feel about it.

The author told this story with such finesse that I hadn't realized that my feelings on the topics slowly changed and by the end of the book, I was rooting for the relationship as it was. By the end of the book, I was more than okay with the storyline.

I was able to understand the reason for her dominance and her insistence on everyone being submissive. That her control wasn't out of vanity but a necessity to keep the ones that she cared for safe. I was left in awe with how she managed to turn my feelings around without my knowledge. She opened up my eyes, instead of seeing it as just black and white, right or wrong.... I now see it in all kinds of grey.

This book was most definitely out of my comfort zone and it took some time to really process what I was reading. It was thought provoking, heartwarming, intriguing and sensual. I'm left wanting and waiting for the next book.
